HOneybee project reflection
Dissection project
When being offered the options of which animal I wanted to dissect out a shark, pig, and cat, I chose to dissect the cat because it was worth the most points and I wanted to give my grade a big boost. Through directing the cat, I learned that out of the options that I had to dissect, the internal anatomy is the most similar to that of a human. Through dissecting the cat, I learned that if i apply myself to studying for a final, I can get a grade that I wanted. I studied for this project more than I have ever studied for any other project, and I received an A on it.
Forensic Science REFLECTION
DNA evidence has improved our justice system by proving the innocence of wrongfully convicted people.Skeletal remains were recovered in the San Juan National Forest. Through analysis of the skeletal remains it was discovered that the victim had been shot in the back of the head. Examination of the dental remains narrowed the suspected victims down to two victims. Mitochondrial DNA revealed that the victims was Nathan Herron. Through the process of blood typing, James Newell became the prime suspect in the investigation. After examining the blood under the fingernails, it showed that it was not James Newell’s blood underneath the fingernails.
TED TAlk Summary
When it comes to cancer, there is no cure that we as people know of, but new research suggests that we could actually starve out cancer. Through the process of angiogenesis, the body can control the amount of blood vessels throughout the body, but when angiogenesis is out of balance, diseases welcome themselves into the body such as strokes pr wounds that don't heal. When angiogenesis is balanced out and blocked, cancerous tumors can never grow from lack of blood, but when angiogenesis is unbalanced, it grows much more rapidly. To boost the bodies defense system researchers asked: What can we add to our diet to prevent cancers? Throughout tests and studies, it was discovered that with each different strain and type of food has different potencies in fighting cancer molecules, such as different types of tea.
