La casa en mango street reflection
In class, we read a story called “La Casa En Mango Street” about a girl who lives in a very small house house on Mango Street. They had to move from their old house because their landlord kicked them out because of a water leak, and they moved into a much smaller house. Our assignment was to describe and write two of our own chapters describing our own house and family modeled after the story we wrote.
Proyecto de cuba Reflection
For the proyecto de Cuba project, we had the option of writing commands from the perspective of Che Guevara, or writing a recipe of a Cuban food. I chose to write a recipe of a Cubano, a cuban sandwich with deli ham, pork, mustard, mayonnaise, and swiss cheese. We were asked to make a recipe for a Cuban food and then make that food at home and bring it either to class, or at exhibition. This project made me appreciate and understand more about not only Cuban foods and culture, but the country as a whole.
Exhibición de las Ramblas
In this project, each student chose a Spanish speaking celebrity to make a Spanish presentation about, using the imperfect and preterite tenses. We were all asked to make a slideshow presentation, as well as prepare and memorize a speech from the perspective of the celebrity that we chose. Throughout this project I learned and enhanced my skills speaking and writing in Spanish in the past, in addition to learning and becoming better at two new tenses.
Un dia en la vida project
In the "Un dia en la vida" project, we wrote a story about a person that we chose. English does not have reflexive verbs like Spanish does, so it was a very difficult part of learning the Spanish because it is so different from the way that we have to talk in English. I liked learning to master this because it made me feel like I was getting closer and closer to becoming more and more fluent in the language. |
Por que statement
In this project we explained why we wanted to learn Spanish and how it would effect our future. I want to learn Spanish because I want to travel to Spanish speaking countries and I want to be able to communicate with the people there. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing about where they are from and their family and friends, meeting people in a foreign country would be even more interesting because it would be a place and a culture in which I am unfamiliar with.
Cuento de mi niñez
During this project, we told a story of our choice from our childhood. I told a story using the preterite about me and how I accidentally lit my pajamas on fire on the 4th of July with sparklers. I chose to write about this story because it impacted me on the fourth of July for a long time because my mom wouldn't let me use fireworks or play with sparklers until I was 13 because she was worried that I would light myself on fire again. Then, for the next several years, I had to watch my brothers and friends play with sparklers, but I wasn't allowed to.
